SheWorks are excited to share some great news – our client Nazish has recently secured a full-time role with Melbourne Water as a Project Engineer.
Before accessing Fitted for Work services and registering with SheWorks, Nazish had been struggling to find work, despite coming to Australia as a skilled migrant with extensive work experience. “Without local work experience it proved very difficult to secure a professional job”.
Nazish accessed Fitted for Work’s Job Preparation Hub to get assistance with her resume and cover letters and outfitting services.
Through Fitted for Work, Nazish found out about SheWorks and the job opportunity withL’Oréal at their Dandenong South Distribution Centre.
“I secured my first job in Australia at L’Oréal through SheWorks, no matter it was outside my field of experience but I joined to enter into local job market…and that leads [me] to my professional job”.
Nazish learnt a great deal about Australian work practices and culture during her time at L’Oréal and was able to give her job applications “a positive impression that I was willing to work no matter what job it is”. It was that attitude that gave Nazish a winning edge over 200+ applicants for work at Melbourne Water.
Nazish adds “I would like to thank you Fitted for Work and She Works for doing an amazing job for the women in need and not getting job due to lack of local experience, age, gender, gap in their work experience, cultural background etc. For women my advice is, work hard and keep pushing until you make it.”
Nazish will continue to be supported by SheWorks, like all our SheWorks placements she has access to 6-12 months of one-on-one mentoring support through our Fitted for Work mentoring program.
