International Women's Day 2022

International Women’s Day is a day to celebrate and recognise the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women, however it is also an opportunity to make a call to action for accelerating gender parity.

At Fitted for Work, we are dedicated to helping women experiencing disadvantage to find work, keep work and thrive in their careers. We believe every woman has the right to economic security. Since 2005, we have helped over 38,000 women. On average women find work in just 73 days of accessing our services. We focus specifically on helping women gain employment not only because work provides financial security but also a sense of social connectedness, dignity and pride. We believe that when a woman is fitted for work, she is fitted for life.

This international Women’s Day, you can empower women and accelerate gender parity by supporting Fitted for Work, either as an individual or as an organisation , in the following ways:

#BreakTheBias with She Works

A woman in a wheelchair sits in front of a computer with headphones in. She is in a video meeting and is waving to the other participants.

This International Women’s Day, and every other day of the year, She Works strives to #BreaktheBias. We’re disrupting the gender stereotypes that exist in the workplace and repeatedly fail or disadvantage women.

We know gender bias and stereotyping begin at birth and continue to be reinforced over the course of our lives. Societal structures and processes that frame our family and work life affect all genders, however expert research reveals that women are at a greater disadvantage across all areas of their life in the longer-term.

Find out more about how She Works is helping to #BreakTheBias by working with both employers and women looking for work.

A Sustainable Tomorrow with the Conscious Closet

The United National Women theme for International Women’s Day 2022 is ‘gender equality today for a sustainable tomorrow’.

Our social enterprise, the Conscious Closet, was born from the idea that high quality, pre-loved clothes deserve to find a second home. Fast fashion is detrimental to the environment, detrimental to your bank balance, and doesn’t align with conscious shopping values. So, we decided to change all that. Our online store and weekly pop up sales bring the very best of pre-loved clothing and accessories, so you can feel good about looking good!

100% of the profit made from the Conscious Closet goes straight to Fitted for Work and have helped support thousands of women on their journey into employment. Plus, in the previous financial year, we saved thousands of kilograms of recycled fashion from ending up in landfill.

With the help of our volunteers, donors and partners, we’ve made a huge impact.
