Today  Fitted for Work hosted our first ever in-house Work Familiarisation Day for women participating in our WomanKind suite of programs. Usually, Work Familiarisation Days are hosted by our corporate partners in their offices but this time, due to scheduling conflicts, we had to make alternative arrangements.

Two groups came together to meet each other, be introduced to their mentors, hear from Fitted for Work staff, facilitators and volunteers as well as have a tour of the Queen Victoria Women’s Centre to learn about other services co-located in the building as well some history. (A big thanks to Patricia Saca, QVWC‘s Event Manager, for a really informative session.)

The group also heard an inspirational talk from Melanie Browne from Transdev about the do’s and don’ts of recruitment and spent time with experienced mentors who volunteered their time to provide individual support to the women. They also enjoyed hearing about the rich and varied career journey of Fitted for Work’s Xavier Buckley.

It was a great day of meeting, greeting, networking and learning. The stories shared helped to show our women the different routes into work and where they can take them. Thanks to all the volunteers and staff who gave their time and shared their expertise and to our women for their enthusiasm and courage in embracing the day!
