The Conscious Closet and Resume Hub Volunteer
I volunteer in The Conscious Closet as a retail volunteer and in the Resume Hub assisting with resume writing, job interview skills and other job readiness assistance
In The Conscious Closet, we have a variety of roles including, merchandising, sales, assisting clients with styling and purchases. Sometimes we open and close the shop and check receipts and floats. In the Hub, volunteers work with clients to prepare resumes, job applications, cover letters, and practice job interviews.
I enjoy the volunteer roles very much and the roles are quite different. The Conscious Closet is always fun meeting so many different and interesting people who shop there as well as camaraderie with The Conscious Closet team. The Resume Hub is demanding and can be quite challenging from an emotional point of view, but so rewarding helping women prepare their resumes and focus on their strengths and abilities. I hope we help them build confidence. Both roles are wonderful as I feel lucky to be involved in this vibrant organisation and being involved with so many different women from a wide variety of backgrounds, and contribute to building positive futures.
