Our retail social enterprise The Conscious Closet has enjoyed yet another busy and successful year of trade in 2018, with great thanks to our incredible volunteer staff and the support of a loyal (and ever-growing!) customer base.
Throughout the year, our Melbourne shop has celebrated many national events, including collaborating with RMIT Sustainability for Fashion Revolution Week, holding a pop up activation at ISPT buildings for International Women’s Day and celebrating National Op-shop week in store with champagne & shopping and too many sales to count! Our Parramatta branch has continued to run monthly pop-up sales, also with much success, in the local community.
Fitted for Work is greatly aware of the growing epidemic of textiles waste in Australia. We see The Conscious Closet as an opportunity to offer the general public an accessible way to reduce and manage their own textile waste by providing both a place to donate unwanted garments and also to shop for great quality recycled fashion.
This year The Conscious Closet Melbourne has rehomed more than 6,500 items of recycled fashion and apparel while providing an essential independent stream of revenue to help support Fitted for Work’s programs and services.
The Conscious Closet would not be able to operate without the generous donations of high-quality womenswear we receive from our corporate and individual supporters.
Thank you all so much for your support, and we look forward to seeing you in 2019!
Please note The Conscious Closet will be closed from Dec 23rd – Jan 7th.
