A social enterprise fully owned and operated by Fitted for Work, all profits from SheWorks go directly back into Fitted for Work enabling more women to access its programs and services. Buying from a social enterprise is one of simplest and most effective ways of generating social value that can help break the cycle of disadvantage. Organisations that work with us receive quality employment services while also demonstrating leadership in Corporate Social Responsibility, showing their employees and customers that they have a genuine commitment to helping women obtain work and create a better future for themselves, their families and their communities.
In 2014, Yarra Trams approached Fitted for Work to help them promote their Driven Women Project – a drive to generate more female applicants for tram driver roles.
Fitted for Work was contracted to promote the project to its pool of work-ready women and support them through the application process. Women received individual coaching and were matched with a trained mentor and received face to face support as well as access to online tools to navigate their first 12 months of work on the job.
40 women were successful at the interview stage and are now either waiting for an offer pending final checks, in training as drivers or fully fledged drivers out on the road!
Fitted for Work offers ongoing support to all Yarra Trams candidates, whether or not they have been successful in their application, through a suite of job readiness activities including a mentor program.
